Monday Shenanigans…

I am just from having a very in-depth political discussion with my peers. It is fulfilling for me, I like to engage in such discussions where there is no judgement, just constructive criticism, agreeing to disagree. Respecting opinions and connecting intellectually. It’s quite interesting when Governors are fighting to host the AFCON and yet we don’t even have great players, a literal joke. Anyway , it is not a political day here on the blog but I trust you are keeping well. For my international readers, tomorrow on the 10th of Tuesday it is a holiday for Kenyans. It’s utamaduni day or Huduma day, whichever we feel like, as long as it is a holiday. I’m choosing to celebrate utamaduni, all for the culture innit?

Catch up a little, I went for the Gormahia Vs AFC leopards game during the weekend, it has been on my bucket list for a minute since I moved from Kisumu. As expected we were met with tear gas at the entrance and let me tell you the deja Vu moment that struck me. When you live in Kisumu you are bound to be teared gassed every other weekend, it was so familiar in my system I dare say I had missed it.

So we had to change entrance gates because there was no way we were going back. We finally got to pay and entered the stadium.i don’t know why it’s usually a matter of life and death with such games? The thrill is what people go for.it is such an exhilarating high it took me a long minute to come off of it. The music and dancing after Gormahia won, until the main highway had me feeling tired yet so happy. I believe Luo culture brings the roudy side of me pretty well. I assimilate you’d think I’m one of them.

So when I say I choose to celebrate utamaduni day, I mean it. I like to identify as Kikuyu by birth, Luo by assimilation, Swahili by choice. I enjoy being in those 3 cultures ,the food, the people and geographical location. The lakeside gives electric and good chills, the coast is slow and relaxing whereas the mountain is home, Warm and cozy. I wonder what my affinal Kinship will bring. I hope it will be among the said cultures or even another one. Well blame it on my education, Sociology makes you understand and appreciate different backgrounds, eventually you end up being part of some.

Just Monday shenanigans, we meet tomorrow for themed topics, love and love from me to you.
